Extended Spectrum DOCSIS (ESD) represents one of the largest opportunities for operators to increase the service life of their Hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) networks. As a global leader in ESD solutions, CommScope has developed a new level of testing and quality control for our coax cabling to ensure that every reel that leaves our factories will be capable of handling the 1.2 and 1.8 GHz frequencies required to deliver reliable ESD.
As part of our vision to help operators embrace the next stage of their HFC network evolution, we recently developed new coaxial cable testing procedures that exceed the current industry 1 GHz standard. Our in-house performance validation testing criteria requires that we sweep test each lot of coaxial cable for extended frequency operation up to 1.8 GHz. This ensures that operators using our cables will be able to take full advantage of the latest advances in DOCSIS technology for years to come.
We’ve also updated our WebTrak online portal, where operators can view test results of every reel of coaxial cable. Webtrak offers instant access to electrical performance, sales order numbers, date of manufacturing, and product catalog numbers. And starting in Q1 2021, operators will experience 1.8GHz data frequencies.
CommScope’s new extended frequency testing and WebTrak portal were borne out of our leadership and commitment to next-generation network innovation. And they’re just two more ways that CommScope is empowering the world’s leading operators to confidently embrace the future.
