CommScope Powers Entertainment Studio’s Comedy Fundraiser for Hunger Relief

Entertainment Studios’ selected CommScope’s software to power its comedy festival fundraiser that provided millions of meals to families affected by COVID-19 across the country. Dave Charlton explains in this blog.

mdc_1100x1100This May, Entertainment Studios’ selected CommScope’s software to power its comedy festival fundraiser that provided millions of meals to families affected by COVID-19 across the country.

The Feeding American Comedy Festival was the brainchild of Byron Allen, Founder/Chair/CEO of Entertainment Studios/Allen Media Group - parent company of Local Now which is brought to users by The Weather Channel. The event, which aired last month (now available on Video on Demand) brought together some of the most talented comedians in the United States to support and raise money for America's largest hunger-relief organization, Feeding America®.

In anticipation of an avalanche of viewers and donations, Local Now tapped CommScope to quadruple the capacity of its CommScope Personalized Channels solution. This solution uses CommScope’s Manifest Delivery Controller (MDC) software to power Local Now’s IP video service—through server-side dynamic ad insertion, content personalization, and analytics—in 230 cities.

The CommScope team completed the task in a blistering 10-day period and, in doing so, supported Entertainment Studios’ success in raising enough money to provide 16 million meals to families across the country! It’s another way that CommScope is helping to build a better world.

Thank you to the Video Professional Services team for your expeditious support of our partners and communities in need.
