As the size and volume of their data grow larger, Oracle Labs researchers need a fast, ultra-low-loss network to keep pace and enable them to upload and download data quickly. It was imperative that the organization’s network could meet growing computing demands without issues. Oracle Labs chose our SYSTIMAX® copper and fiber structured cabling solution for increased speed, capacity and flexibility. SYSTIMAX supports evolving networks with flexible, scalable solutions. This was another important consideration as the organization sought a network that could be expanded and upgraded without ripping and replacing the physical layer.
By relying on our SYSTIMAX solution, Oracle Labs more than quadrupled throughput capacity—to 1.2 terabytes from approximately 300 gigabytes. This additional computing power allows researchers to use Oracle’s cloud, artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies seamlessly. SYSTIMAX gives the Broomfield lab the speed and bandwidth it needs right now, with room to grow.
Pandemic challenges
Oracle Labs scheduled the SYSTIMAX deployment in late 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many businesses, including Oracle Labs, limited the number of employees, support staff and others on-site due to pandemic-related health and safety concerns. At the same time, supply chain instability led to shortages of key components that many telecom companies rely on. Given these challenges, it was important to work with an experienced telecom partner. In this case, it was Linx, a Colorado-based technology integrator that’s an elite member of CommScope’s PartnerPRO® Network. CommScope has worked with Linx on many deployments and knew we could count on the company to deliver the project successfully.
Linx pivoted multiple times during the deployment, overcoming pandemic-related hurdles that other companies might have stumbled on.
